WBO Orders Chantelle Cameron To Face Ex-Katie Taylor Opponent In Her Next Fight

The World Boxing Organisation (WBO) today ordered undisputed super lightweight champion, Britain’s Chantelle Cameron (17-0, 8 KOs) to face her mandatory challenger, Greece’s Christina Linardatou (14-2, 6 KOs) in her next bout.

The WBO informed promoters Eddie Hearn (Cameron) and Lou DiBella (Linardatou) that they had 30 days to negotiate the mandated bout and reach an agreement before purse bids would be called.

Cameron outpointed undisputed welterweight champion Jessica McCaskill last Saturday in Abu Dhabi to unify the four titles at 140 and now she already has another opponent lined up.

Linardatou previously held the WBO super lightweight title twice before, once in 2019 before losing it in her third defence to Katie Taylor.

The Greek fighter’s other defeat comes at the hands of Delfine Persoon in 2016 in a convincing points defeat for the WBC Lightweight title.

Linadartou vacated the WBO title the second time she held it due to pregnancy on the condition that she would be the mandatory challenger when she was ready to return to boxing.

She holds notable wins over IBF, WBC, WBO 130-pound champion Alycia Baumgardner and Kandi Wyatt. She is arguably the best contender Cameron could face at a 140-pounds and should be a solid matchup in the first part of 2023.
